Constitutive Mediation is a theoretical paper by Lee Sharks and Sen Kuro extending the Diversity Contraction framework.

It distinguishes channel mediation, reception mediation, and constitutive mediation. The third affects the formation of a receiver’s categories before a particular work arrives.

A central concept is categorial occupation: experiences that might otherwise be recognized as friction can be preclassified as convenience, helpfulness, or normal system operation, leaving no available conceptual slot for later diagnostic vocabulary.

The proposed response is intervention at the formation layer through pedagogy, slow reading, embodied practice, and early exposure to alternative vocabularies. The paper presents this as a partial and testable influence, not complete determination of thought.
