The paper reads Plato’s use of initiation, eros, poetry, and transformed vision alongside Sappho’s Fragment 31. It proposes that the fragment’s bodily collapse and survival through text provide a structural pattern later ritualized in Platonic anamnesis and erotic ascent. Diotima is interpreted as a constructed feminine voice through which Sapphic lyric returns inside the philosophical corpus.
The work builds on scholarship about mystery language in Plato, Sapphic eros, ancient philosophy as spiritual practice, and the disputed “Tenth Muse” reception. It does not claim direct authorship, cult identity, or decisive historical proof.
The reading is offered as one reclassification model and as a precursor to Socrates as Orthonym, not as settled classical scholarship.
