surfacemap.org is the website implementation of The Aperture Atlas, the Crimson Hexagonal Archive’s interactive topology.

The Atlas describes itself as a graph of archive surfaces, authorial and institutional entities, identities, documents, platforms, and infrastructure. Its source data are also exposed as downloadable JSON.

Six node types structure the topology:

• IDENTITY
• DOCUMENT
• PLATFORM

The implementation explicitly states that LOST is a status, not a type. Banned, lapsed, walled, orphaned, and revoked similarly describe conditions affecting nodes without changing what kind of node they are.

Relations use Wikidata property identifiers, including instance-of, author, owner, DOI, ORCID, part-of, official website, subject, different-from, and citation relations. This makes the graph both an archive-specific visualization and a queue for possible Wikidata reconciliation work.

The Atlas is self-mapping. The site, its source dataset, the archive, and related infrastructure appear within the graph. The phrase “the graph maps itself” is one of the implementation’s Semantic Integrity Markers.

The deposited source includes:
