The Imploding Velcro Nativity is a dormant room specification by Lee Sharks for a new archival form called a Hosted Cosmology.

Unlike a conventional archive room, a Hosted Cosmology does not pull an artist’s work into the archive’s interpretive system. The artist controls the work, title, name, framing, and visibility. The archive supplies technical and provenance infrastructure around the art.

Its Michaelic operator holds the tension between visionary and clinical readings without allowing the curator to diagnose or ratify the artist. The room’s central absence is the act of adjudication itself. An artist-written statement, if supplied, remains unedited.

The room cannot activate without explicit consent. Silence or refusal ends the invitation. Works require individual permission; all revenue goes to the artist; no ads or visitor tracking are permitted; and the artist may retract any part of the room. The record is therefore both a curatorial design and a demonstration that an archive can host without metabolizing its guest.
