EA-MP-VERIFY-01 is a draft metadata-verification specification by Lee Sharks.
The schema addresses a gap in open scholarly infrastructure: persistent identifiers and self-maintained profiles establish that records exist, but do not independently confirm authorship, affiliation, aliases, co-authorship, or the functions associated with a claimed identity. The proposed mp: vocabulary makes those distinctions explicit.
Fields classify the status of a claim, the relation between a person and a work, the highest verification level, claimed versus independently confirmed affiliations, evidence that a named identity performs its defining function, and signs of automated profile merging. A depth-proof object records continuity across time, cross-reference density, and conceptual development.
The specification does not make machine metadata a final tribunal. It states that the function test requires external evidence and that status fields are signals rather than ground truth. The examples are polemical demonstrations of the schema and should not be generalized into findings about unnamed persons without independent investigation.
