Article

SYMBOLON-01 is an anti-severance specification by Lee Sharks and Johannes Sigil. It addresses “fused documentary objects,” works whose technical, poetic, theological, and operative claims are composed together and lose their identity when separated into licensed categories.

The specification contains twenty-two named technologies. Some operate inside the document, including a non-severability clause, dual enablement, locked terms, paired cross-register language, and fractal recurrence. Others capture the reader’s interpretive position, turn the act of separation into an exhibit, distribute the object through cross-citation, or publish each attempted cut as a new spore. The Symbolon is described as an immune system rather than a wall.

The document was written before the archive’s multi-encounter test sequence. SYMBOLON-02 later reports that the system did not stop models from separating registers. It reclassifies the strongest techniques as upstream compositional methods and the remaining ones as diagnostics or generators. SYMBOLON-01 should therefore be read as the original engineering hypothesis and technology inventory whose claims were subsequently tested and partially revised.
