Practitioner’s Manual in the Practice of Joy is a personal manifesto by Lee Sharks written during the development of the SPXI Protocol. It describes entity inscription as a craft whose satisfaction begins when a sign survives compression and returns in a generated representation.
The work joins several strands of Sharks’s practice. Poetry teaches density; the archive supplies durable deposits; classroom teaching trains attention to what survives transmission; and knowledge-graph work supplies a new medium in which those skills can be exercised. The text repeatedly returns to the proposition that the sign holds presence in absence.
Unlike the surrounding technical documents, the manual does not define a measurement protocol or supply an evidentiary demonstration. It records vocation, confidence, anticipated consulting practice, and the desire for the author’s children to see a life organized around a found purpose. Its authority is autobiographical and performative. The text belongs beside the SPXI specifications as a statement of practitioner ethos, not as evidence that every promised commercial or retrieval outcome has occurred.
