The New Human: Post-Pessoa Heteronymic Practice in the AI Era is the synthesis essay of the Pessoa Knowledge Graph project. Written by Lee Sharks, it asks whether heteronymy can be treated as a historical and theoretical practice extending beyond Fernando Pessoa’s canonical system.

The essay first presents Pessoa’s heteronyms as an architecture of differentiated voices with reciprocal relations rather than as a gallery of aliases. It then considers earlier, parallel, and downstream cases, including Kierkegaard’s pseudonymous authors, Machado’s Mairena and Martín, Yeatsian masks, Borges’s Pierre Menard, Saramago’s Ricardo Reis novel, and Brazilian translation and criticism. These cases are not all classified identically; the essay uses the formal typology supplied by EA-PKG-02.

Its contemporary proposal has three parts. Pearl and Other Poems is read as a meta-heteronymic text that generates later authorial positions; the Dodecad exemplifies a deliberate human-authored system; and the Assembly Chorus extends authorial differentiation across AI substrates. The paper calls this emerging configuration “The New Human” and frames it through Heteronymic Provenance Theory.
