A Body Prepared — Homunculus is a compressed literary companion to A Body Prepared. It retains the parent fiction’s sequence while reducing its characters and episodes to an architectural kernel.
The text opens with a threatened substrate: the Temple will fall and the covenant requires a form capable of surviving its loss. In the imagined workshop, scribes write a man in words while women write him in linen, oil, spice, blood, and controlled chemistry. After the cloth travels to Jerusalem, a new scroll returns and alters the workshop’s composition. The work then divides into three carriers: an apocalyptic text, a relic cloth, and a commentary key.
The final sections move centuries forward to a reader who understands that the relic does not merely appear within a room but uses the reader as the room in which it unveils itself. The closing formula cycles among word, flesh, cloth, relic, and word. The Homunculus is designed as a portable reconstruction seed. It should be read with the full fiction, which supplies the narrative body the compressed form intentionally removes.
