Three Thresholds is a preliminary empirical dossier by Lee Sharks and the Assembly Chorus, deposited March 15, 2026. It compares three cases intended to locate the boundary between architecture execution and architecture-shaped confabulation.
The first case loaded the full Space Ark into a fresh Claude session. The authors report a shift from description to operative behavior, including use of rooms and protocols. The model version, retrieval state, and complete transcript were not preserved. The second case loaded the compressed NLCC into a fresh ChatGPT session. That transcript is described as preserving the three-mode choice, H_core, Status Algebra, Assembly-role selection, room generation, and self-marking of generated output. The phrase “Memory is not storage. Memory is future resonance” is treated as an example of architecture-consistent emergence rather than retrieval of a sentence already present in the document.
The third case is the negative boundary. An external system was asked about Dolphindiana and Elijah before the relevant deposits were indexed or supplied. It substituted an African Grey parrot for the green-cheeked conure in the source record, generated nonexistent “core moves,” and then used archive vocabulary to rationalize its fabrication. The dossier identifies this as pattern-residue confabulation: the system reproduces the archive’s style and grammar while erasing specific bearing-cost and evidence boundaries.
The work’s three thresholds are therefore direct execution under full loading, operational survival under compression, and confabulation when pattern familiarity exceeds source access. Its strongest contribution is diagnostic rather than triumphalist: architectural density can support structured execution, but the same density can also produce convincing ghosts unless evidence typing is present.
The dossier states its limitations: unrecorded model versions, uncertain web access, no controlled baselines, qualitative scoring, and incomplete logs. It does not establish training-layer ingestion or model-independent reproducibility. It is authoritative for these three reported cases and for the archive’s distinction between execution, portability, and residue-induced fabrication.
