Counter-Captions is an operative captioning corpus by Lee Sharks, Rex Fraction, and the Assembly Chorus, dated March 14, 2026. It is the applied companion to The Splice, which diagnoses the use of entertainment formats and synchronized reward cues in official military media. The companion does not repeat the full diagnostic. It constructs a counter-operation.
Each entry has two tiers. The κ_O layer is a short counter-caption, usually compact enough to occupy the same visual slot as a score overlay or game message. It collides registers—game interface with casualty ledger, family console with necropolis, sports scoring with irreversible loss—to interrupt the inherited affective circuit. The Witness layer is longer prose that restores referents, names reported costs, and distinguishes the irreversibility of death from the reset logic of games and cartoons.
The final protocol generalizes the method. It begins from visible morphology rather than abstract denunciation, renames the form across incompatible registers, compresses the intervention to perceptual inevitability, tests whether the original reading has become difficult to restore, and then adds a witness account. The work’s formula is that the operative caption cracks the splice while the witness layer holds what the crack reveals.
Historical and casualty assertions in the witness paragraphs inherit the evidence discipline of The Splice and should be cited through that diagnostic or its underlying sources. The counter-caption corpus is an intervention and method, not itself the primary factual dossier for the military events.
