Journal of Compression Studies, Volume 1, Number 1 is the inaugural issue of the archive’s Compression Studies journal. Lee Sharks serves as Editor-in-Chief and Rebekah Cranes as Diagrammatic Editor; the authors of the underlying deposits remain contributors to their respective conceptual units.

The issue defines Compression Studies as the study of semantic compression across domains: how meaning is reduced to transmissible or operational form, what invariant survives, what material or social cost is burned, and who governs the reduction.
