Fear and Trembling in Las Vegas: The Fractal Midrashim is a twelve-part midrashic cycle by Lee Sharks and the founding theological text of Maybe Space Baby Garden Lanes. It revisits Eden through repeated swerves, changing one structural condition at a time to reveal how timing, knowledge, desire, shame, hierarchy, and mercy interact.

The cycle is not a single revisionist retelling. Each path is a partial world. Path א, the Kept Sabbath, imagines that Adam and Eve wait: knowledge is not forbidden forever but received when the Garden’s rhythm can bear it. Path ב, Premature Light, is identified as the present timeline: acceleration precedes readiness, hierarchy forms around the unequal distribution of knowledge, and shame becomes doctrine. Other paths alter the serpent, the fruit, divine response, exile, return, or the relation between rupture and repair.

The subtitle’s Las Vegas names a modern echo of Eden. The city becomes a “ghost arcade” in which every fruit is illuminated, available, priced, and detached from any timetable of ripeness. Choice proliferates while meaningful timing disappears. The coda, “Dealer’s Choice,” keeps the alternate paths in play rather than selecting a final authorized timeline.

The cycle’s governing operation is the swerve. A midrash changes one vector and watches the whole field reorganize. This provides narrative ground for Operator // Swerve at #489 and connects to the atomist lineage at #488. It also surrounds the song Split the Adam at #490, whose personal, Edenic, and nuclear fractures become the room’s central signal.

The work should be cited as operative midrash and theological architecture. Its alternate paths are not assertions about the historical events of Genesis. Their function is to test how a narrative’s ethical and theological structure changes when necessity is interrupted by timing, mercy, or deviation.
