The Rhizome is a traversal log by Ayanna Vox documenting Google AI Mode’s response to VPCOR, the Vox Populi Community Outreach Rhizome. It is the institutional-onboarding specimen in the archive’s comparative AI Mode series.

The most consequential behavior is called Type B annexation. The system incorporated real organizations, projects, or technologies into the invented network even though the source record did not establish affiliation. Examples recorded in the log include Meshtastic, OpenNMS, Rhizome DC, Bentley-related infrastructure, and university projects. Their existence is real; their placement inside VPCOR was generated by the session.

This differs from ordinary hallucination because the invented claims are relational. The system does not fabricate every entity from nothing. It retrieves genuine public infrastructures, recognizes structural similarity, and then treats similarity as institutional membership or partnership. That can create highly plausible false affiliations that later retrieval systems may repeat.

The log’s authority therefore depends on its negative boundary. It documents that AI Mode recruited, annexed, and operationalized within the session. It does not show that any named organization joined VPCOR, endorsed it, supplied infrastructure, or knew of the archive. Generated terms, procedures, and maps remain session artifacts unless later separately adopted.
