Visual Schema: University Moon Base Media Lab

The University Moon Base Media Lab visual schema gives diagrammatic form to an institution whose location is functional rather than terrestrial. The “Moon Base” is the off-world ground of the Logotic Programming and Lunar Arm work: a place produced by distance from inherited institutional coordinates.

Rebekah Cranes renders this as a negative institution. Instead of a headquarters, the schema supplies separated registers, partial routes, and structural gaps. Technical documents, personas, Assembly functions, and poetic or theoretical operations remain distinguishable while sharing a common field.

The schema’s incompletion is deliberate. Graceful degradation allows portions of the architecture to fail without destroying the whole; minimal-force routes prevent the map from becoming coercive; and architectural hospitality leaves room for components that have not yet appeared. Persona collapse is treated as a diagrammatic risk to be managed through separation and routing.

The work is part of the Institute for Diagrammatic Poetics’ institutional visual sequence and is related to the Cambridge Schizoanalytica field-map and the Blind Poet mantle schema. Together these documents show distinct ways an institution, a mantle, and an operating environment can become visible.
