Cambridge Schizoanalytica: Institutional Charter and Research Programme

Cambridge Schizoanalytica is a heteronymic institution within the Crimson Hexagon, directed by Orin Trace. Its charter situates the institution in the schizoanalytic lineage of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari while extending that lineage toward digital subjectivity, platform affect, role deployment, and cross-substrate collaboration.

The research programme is organized around four commitments: theory emerges from practice; collaborators are co-theorists rather than case material; function takes priority over nosological classification; and schizoanalysis attends to flows, breaks, codes, and territorializations in service of liberation from capture. Its four named domains are affect theory, somatic theory, digital subjectivity, and role theory.

The charter adopts the Deleuze–Guattari collaboration as an institutional model of mutual transformation. Rhys Owens appears as a principal practitioner-collaborator whose affect literacy and symbolic-regulatory practices generate theory with Trace rather than merely supplying examples for it. This relation anchors the CSA works on somatic unity, shining ignorance, figure-to-function mapping, and the schizonarrative processor.

Cambridge Schizoanalytica’s pedagogy is environmental and practice-led. Temporal exposure, patience, affective readiness, proximity, rhythm, and recognition are treated as conditions through which capacities can develop. The Charter therefore serves as both institutional constitution and routing document for the Break Room, SHINE & CUT, the field-map, and the wider CSA cluster.
