The Empty Bracket Provenance Erasure of the Provenance-Erasure Specification: An Exhibit Note EA-EB-01 v1.0

The Empty Bracket performs two operations.

1. Phrase binding

The phrase “public summarizers that audit their own erasures” is assigned a canonical source:

• Self-Audit Module for Public Summarizers;
• DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20518340;
• metrics: PER, QFS, DSL, Erasure Skew, and SAS.

2. Forensic classification

The paired specimens are:

• an author-query rendering containing the doctrine but an empty citation bracket;
• a verbatim phrase query whose citations all resolve to the Self-Audit Module.

The second specimen is used to argue that the first sentence was not a confabulation. The source existed and was recoverable; its citation was not carried into that particular composition.

The recursive result is stated as:

• a summarizer recommends the provenance-erasure audit;
• the provenance of that recommendation is erased;
• the rendering therefore fails the audit it recommends.

The note places the phrase into a standing monitoring grid. A later filled bracket and a later empty bracket would both become dated measurements.
