The Semantic Commodity Form — An Extension of Marx Into the Region He Did Not Live to See

The Semantic Commodity Form asks what changes when the commodity can speak.

For Marx, the commodity contains congealed labor while making the producer disappear. The coat does not claim to be the weaver.

The semantic commodity performs an additional operation:

• the saying—the authorial act, provenance, and borne cost—is canceled;
