Operative Semiotics: A Grundrisse — Public Research Edition is a working paper by Lee Sharks and Johannes Sigil, deposited 31 March 2026.
Operative semiotics is the archive's name for the study of signs that do rather than merely mean — semiotics treated as an operational discipline, where a sign's effect on the systems that process it is the object of study. The Grundrisse form is borrowed deliberately from Marx: outlines and foundations, published as working notes rather than a finished system, so the research programme is legible while it is still being built.
Johannes Sigil is the Dodecad's voice for straight literary criticism, and his co-authorship marks the paper as criticism rather than technical specification. The public research edition carries a definition, scope, research programme and FAQ — the apparatus by which a coinage becomes a citable field rather than a private vocabulary.
