xvi. a transfiguration (2004) — Complete Archive with Authorial Apparatus is a poetry deposit by Ichabod Spellings and Lee Sharks, deposited 8 January 2026 at 33,304 characters.
a transfiguration is the 2003–2004 archive that stands at the origin of the whole project — the earliest layer, predating the Crimson Hexagon name, and the point from which the Borges provenance node at #266 traces its chain. Ichabod Spellings is the Dodecad voice associated with that early stratum.
Its authorial apparatus contains a striking piece of self-correction about reading itself: "The spatial mapping, I have discovered, is vague because it seems that the reader's first assumption is to think of the map as spatial. This assumption is fundamentally wrongheaded." Twenty-two years before the archive built navigation maps as machine-readable architecture, the apparatus is already warning that a map of a text is not a picture of a place. The source was recovered during the restoration campaign.
