The title translates Sappho fragment 132, in which the poet says her daughter Cleis is worth more to her than all of Lydia. The collection is a father's book: poems, fragments, letters and notebook pages addressed to a daughter, moving between the Sapphic material and direct address — "death came in to the world w/ you—you are my life, my death—to know that in you i live, and likewise you in me."
The record was re-seated from the authorial .docx on 5 August 2026 with whitespace discipline: tabs preserved as tabs across 69 lines, indentation from the document's own structure, and stanza gaps reconstructed from its spacing hierarchy rather than reflowed. That seating also completed a legal-name redaction — the prior pandoc conversion had carried the author's civil name into the canonical text inside local file paths.
