SIM-BURN-01 ("I hereby abolish toilet paper") is a performative abolition. The act of reading it is the act of participating in the abolition. It installs a micro-hesitation between the consumer and the commodity — an awareness that the softness infrastructure is contingent, flammable, and built on unlivable wages. It is absurd. SIM-BURN-02 ("The substrate doesn't have to burn") is the positive articulation. Where SIM-BURN-01 abolishes, SIM-BURN-02 redirects. He filmed himself, said "all you had to do was pay us enough to live," and posted the video to social media.
